Police arrests man carrying fukki ‘consigned by soldier’


Srinagar, Sep 13: The Security wing of police on Wednesday arrested a person carrying Fukki near the General Post Office (GPO) here.
The person has been identified as Abdul Hamid Bhat of Krahama, Choon, Budgam.
The Fukki weighing around 3 kg was wrapped in a nylon bag and placed in a card board box as per which Sepoy Gurmeet Singh of 53 RR had sent it to Shri Baldev Singh of Chhapianwali, Punjab.
“I am here at the gate on Access Control Duty (ACD). My job is to check the parcels. When I noticed the parcel, I asked the bearer to open it. On opening, I saw Fukki inside. We detained the bearer and informed the police,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector, Ghulam Mohammad.
Police has registered a case.
Superintendent of Police, City East, Dawood Ayoub said investigation has been initiated.
“The person who was supposed to post the parcel has been arrested. The investigation will reveal the facts. We cannot go by what has been written on the parcel,” he said.
